Speakers' Bios

André C. Wade, MPA

André C. Wade is the Executive Director of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (The Center), a private non-profit community-based organization with the mission to support and promote activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image and human rights of the LGBTQ community and low to moderate income residents. Prior to working at The Center, Mr. Wade worked at the Clark County Department of Family Services where one of his most major accomplishments was the implementation of a mandatory all-staff training of more than 700 employees on LGBTQ competencies related to child welfare, successfully advocating for the agency to change paperwork and forms to be gender neutral, the inclusion of LGBTQ images and language in foster/adoptive parent recruitment materials and the inclusion of non-discrimination statements in contract language. He is a national advisory board member of Cyndi Lauper’s True Color Fund and the Human Rights Campaign’s All Children-All Families initiative.  

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mr. Wade earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in English and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis on non-profit management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Mr. Wade has studied French, is a certified yoga teacher and enjoys traveling.


Tiffany Woods

Tiffany Woods is a wife, mother of three, trans woman, longtime Bay Area LGBTQI advocate, community organizer and recognized local, state, and national LGBTQI leader.

As current Program Manager for Transgender Services at a federally-qualified health center clinic (FQHC) in Fremont, CA, she insures the trans community has access to affirming, responsive healthcare and HIV prevention/care. The program she co-created in 2002, TransVision, is an internationally recognized primary health and HIV program for transgender/gender non-conforming people at Tri-City Health Center, a FQHC serving Alameda County, CA. TransVision is the first comprehensive health and social services program for transgender/gender non-conforming people in Alameda County. The Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance event she has produced for the past 11 years builds coalitions bringing community, allies, Oakland city officials, legislators and law enforcement together to educate, bring awareness and combat transphobia. She is the LGBT Liaison for the Oakland Police Department and an LGBT Police Academy Diversity Trainer and is currently providing technical assistance to CDC International in Central America for their National Transgender Health Service Strategy in Guatemala and Panama. She is a graduating member of Emerge CA Class of 2017, the 2017 Equality California Leadership Institute and a congressionally appointed CA Democratic Party Delegate, 2017-2019, where she is the elected Secretary of the LGBT Caucus.
